Flicker plot
"A Revolution in Human Consciousness"
Artist Brion Gysin developed the 'Dream Machine'. The device has a 100-watt bulb at its core and is surrounded by a rotating shell with holes in it, through which the light shines. One has to undergo the experience with the eyes closed and the flickering light source is then comparable to a strobe. People who have undergone it describe it as hypnotic or hallucinatory. Some call the 'Dream Machine' experience a drug-free intoxication. Using archived interviews with users - including friends of Gysin - and scientists, the experiences are scrutinized and speculated about possible physiological consequences.
