Fig Trees plot

This original combination of opera and documentary tells the story of AIDS activists Tim McCaskell in Toronto and Zackie Achmat in Cape Town, with an albino squirrel as commentator. McCaskell and Achmat have both been campaigning for the availability of AIDS inhibitors for years. On the text of Gertrude Stein's avant-garde classic Four Saints in Three Acts, an experimental opera has been composed about four activists (including McCaskell and Achmat) who, according to the composer, played a prominent role in raising awareness about HIV and AIDS. Two of them have died.
