Farewell plot
A very special event takes place during the Roaring Twenties: in 1929 the 'Graf Zeppelin', as a symbol of technological progress and of the improved relationship between the United States and Germany, flew around the world for the first time. "Farewell" is a travelogue and love story of the young aristocratic Lady Grace Drummond-Hay and the much older Karl von Wiegand, who were both part of this special journey as journalists for Hearst Press Empire. On the 21-day journey, the forbidden love between widow Grace and married Karl blossoms again. They do everything they can to keep their love from the fellow passengers and the outside world hidden. During the trip, however, a media hype about the flight arises and the pressure from the outside world increases. Keeping the affair between the two a secret becomes more and more annoying and ultimately proves impossible.
