Family plot
Sami Saif is 28. He studied film directing. His father abandoned him and his brother when they were young. His brother later committed suicide. Sami wants to go find his father, but misses every opportunity to do so. His hesitation is fueled by fear, uncertainty and doubt, yet he eventually travels to Egypt to meet the man who now has a new family. Using old super-8 amateur films of him and his brother, of childhoods he remembers little of, interspersed with images of clouds drifting by, of the sky that constantly suggests the passage of time, moods and life situations, the director has very poetic but also disturbing documentary. Seeing the camera as the main witness to his quest, the filmmaker talks, cries and rants into the lens.
