Every now and then the name of a well-known movie star, such as Isabelle Huppert, is mentioned. But in this documentary, for a change, it's not about them, but about the extra. An extra is someone without text, who enlivens film scenes with his or her presence, but otherwise plays no significant role in the story. Documentary maker Sanaz Azari shows them getting their face painted, chatting between shots or checking their phones.
