Expedition Amazon (2024)

Interesting documentary by National Geographic about the Amazon, from its source in the high mountains to its mouth in the sea, but with 45 minutes too short for such a big subject. A number of ecosystems are (briefly) discussed, including the associated environmental problems, but this would probably work better as a series, with more time and attention for each individual subject. Nevertheless entertaining and visually impressive.

This documentary showcases a number of lesser-known animal species living in the Amazon basin. It clearly demonstrates how all life is interconnected and how everything plays a role in the whole. A strong point is the enthusiasm of the researchers who talk about their work, or rather, their passion.

Unfortunately, the running time of just under forty-five minutes is far too short to provide more than a sort of overview. My favorite animal, the spectacled bear (yes, Paddington!), only makes a very brief appearance. Nevertheless, it was nice to have seen it.
