Norwegian-Turkish filmmaker Nefise Özkal Lorentzen decides to send a green balloon to Allah with the message that the role of women in Islamic cultures must change. As a Muslim, she feels trapped between two cultures. The balloon takes her to Cairo, where she visits ninety-year-old publicist Gamal al-Banna, who has been threatened with death several times for his liberal views on Islam.
