El Retrato de Mi Padre plot

Juan Ignacio Fernández Hoppe was eight when his father's body was found on the beach. His mother, a psychiatrist herself, decided that an autopsy was not necessary, even though his father was depressed and had psychiatric medication among his things. Thirty years later, the filmmaker tries to find out what happened, who his father was and how his mother came to that decision. Because his parents separated when he was four, he has few memories of his own. The first interviews with family members are therefore against a white, empty background.
