El Lugar Mas Pequeño plot
Located deep in the jungle, Cinquera in El Salvador has become a ghost town after the civil war that raged from 1980 to 1992. At the time, the village was designated by the United States' reserve forces, the National Guard, as a breeding ground for guerrilla fighters of the left and communist FMLN. What followed was a civil war in which rape, mutilation, torture and murder were the order of the day and the village was wiped off the map; it didn't even appear on the official maps for a while. Some 80,000 people were killed and thousands more went missing. The residents who fled are now being followed on their return. They must bury their murdered friends and family and rebuild the village.
