Een Vlucht naar Zwitserland plot
Documentary about the flight of a young couple to Geneva. Hans Polak was born in Switzerland just after the Second World War. His Jewish parents fled their hometown of Amsterdam three years earlier. The journey was extremely dangerous but the fugitives were lucky. They ended up in Brussels with the help of a smuggler; were able to cross the demarcation line thanks to a heroic Frenchwoman and, unlike thousands of others, were not turned back by the Swiss. In “A Flight to Switzerland” Hans Polak reconstructs the flight of his parents. His mother tells the story from day to day and follows the escape route with him. The report is supplemented by taped commentary with Polak's father, who died in 1987.
