A grieving nation may have different ways of coping with a dark period in history. In this documentary we see a selection of images of sculptures from all over the country, accompanied by poems about this dark period in Dutch history, the Second World War. The film images of these war and resistance monuments have been dramatically edited. They tell the history of war, oppression, betrayal, change and liberation.
