Eating Fire - De Jonge Picasso in Beweging plot
The young painter Pablo Picasso is not yet twenty when he arrives in Paris in 1900, eager to discover himself as an artist. The city is the cultural center and the meeting place for artists from all over the world. Picasso becomes inspired and experiments and within seven years becomes the leader of the avant-garde. Edwin Becker, the energetic curator of the Van Gogh Museum, has conceived a plan in February 2011 to highlight this intriguing early period of Picasso in Paris between 1900 and 1907. Choreographer Krisztina de Châtel has been asked to create an interpretation of the young Picasso (1900-1907) with Dansgroep Amsterdam. The dance floor is in the Van Gogh Museum. Micaela van Rijckevorsel made a documentary about this period in the life of the young talented Spaniard. Picasso's drawings and paintings often reflect his life, what he sees, experiences and what interests him. De Châtel's choreography in turn reflects the work of Picasso.
