East of Paradise plot

Final part of a documentary trilogy, in which images of a self-imposed marginal existence in social ghettos of porn and drug use are interspersed with the oppressive account of the director's mother, who tells of her transport from Krakow to a Soviet gulag during the Second World War. Ms. Kowalski notes that it may be impossible for those who have not endured the same to truly comprehend this dark period of history. As if challenged by the depth and scope of the horror and tragedy to which his mother was exposed, son Kowalski then dives into his own lived past.
