Drugelio Miestas plot

The Lithuanian city of Visaginas was built in Soviet times around a nuclear power plant that was closed before it came into operation. Highly skilled technicians from all over Russia had come to the butterfly-shaped city to contribute to a utopia that burst like a bubble. There is now high unemployment and no integration into the new Lithuania. The Russian-speaking population feels marginalized; there is no room for the experience of their own language and culture and that also has an effect on tolerance and freedom of expression, core values of modern democracy.
