Donyale Luna: Supermodel plot
Documentary about the extraordinary life and equally extraordinary career of Donyale Luna, the first model of color on the cover of Harper's Bazaar (1965) and Vogue (1966). Luna - whose real name was Peggy Ann Freeman - was born in Detroit in 1945. In 1963, she was scouted by fashion photographer David McCabe, who eventually convinced her to move to New York and her career took off almost immediately. However, she too could not escape racial discrimination in America, especially in the midst of the ongoing civil rights movement. After this, she moved to Europe, where she would spend most of her career, until her unfortunate death due to drug-related causes at the age of just 33.
