Donkey in Lahore plot

An Australian puppeteer with a penchant for the goth subculture travels with a colleague to a festival in Lahore, Pakistan in the late 1990s. During those ten days, young Brian, raised by liberal parents, falls in love with the then 17-year-old Muslim Amber. Back in Brisbane, Brian immerses himself in Islam and even converts. When Aamir, as he is called from then on, he tries to marry his beloved. Only two years after their meeting, he has money to travel to Amber and her parents in Lahore and ask for her hand. The multicultural relationship turns out to be more difficult than expected. Miscommunication, social and cultural differences throw a spanner in the works. Although everyone is doing their best to discuss a marriage.
