Dinner with the President: A Nation's Journey plot

In October 1999, the government of Prime Minister Sharif in Pakistan was dismissed by the army's chief of staff, Pervez Musharraf. The army took power, and Musharraf named himself president. Various administrative measures were announced, which were intended, among other things, to prevent far-reaching Islamization of the country and to restore civilian rule. Now, eight years later, filmmaker Sabiha Sumar wonders what's going on in her country, where the religious party MMA now has a growing following. Isn't it strange that a government leader in military uniform is interested in bringing back democracy? She travels through the country with her camera and investigates the state of democracy and how the Pakistanis view the regime of Musharraf.
