Die Rückkehr der Biber: Wilde Baumeister plot
The return of the beaver is one of the greatest success stories of European nature management. After being almost wiped out by extensive hunting, there are now more than 35,000 beavers living in Germany. In France, there are around 12,000 and it is estimated that there are around 600,000 of them in the whole of Europe. This upward trend seems to be continuing, but how did it come about? Because beavers are mainly nocturnal, they are hardly seen. For more than two years, the documentary makers followed the beavers and recorded their distribution across Germany and France.
