Die Odyssee der Kinder plot
When Nazi Germany declared war on Poland in September 1939, it was the signal for more than 250,000 Polish Jews to flee to the east. There were also thousands of children. For many of them, it was the beginning of a four-year and thousands-mile odyssey from Poland to Persia and finally to Palestine. But in the end, only a thousand refugees made it to the Promised Land. Until now, little was known about that exodus and about the role of the underground Jewish organization Haganah. In this documentary, witnesses and survivors talk about the terrible trials the children, between two and 15 years old, had to endure during those long wanderings.
