Diary Film, I Was 12 in 56 plot

In the fall of 1956, a boy from Budapest decided to start a diary. Violent things happened: uprising against the government, security police opening fire on protesting students and workers, Soviet tanks in the streets. The 12-year-old travels through bombed-out and abandoned neighborhoods and writes everything down. Trouw, the little historian visits his violin teacher every week – life goes on. Fifty years after the Hungarian Uprising, the musical student is now a renowned violinist, the diary was made into a film: with the original texts, horrifying archival images, reconstructions, children's drawings and animations.
