Fifty years ago, a German bought 55,000 acres of land in the Selkirk Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. He called it Darkwoods and managed his forests sustainably. Today, the barely accessible mountain ranges are home to mountain caribou, grizzly bears and wolves.
