Der Hauptmann von Muffrika plot
The story of the nineteen-year-old Wehrmacht corporal Willi Herold who was guilty of war crimes in the final phase of the Second World War. He found himself near the Dutch border during the battle and was cut off from his army unit. In a wrecked car he finds the uniform of a Luftwaffe captain that he puts on. It fits him perfectly and so he becomes a kind of Hauptmann von Köpenick. He forms an army unit, armed to the teeth, of roaming soldiers lower in rank than himself and forces them to obey him blindly. He exercises a real terror in the camp for deserters and conscientious objectors, Aschendorfer Moor, where he arbitrarily has the prisoners executed.
