He is best known as the director and protagonist of the cult classic 'Easy Rider' (1969), but the life of Dennis Hopper (1936-2010) is by no means an easy ride. In the documentary 'Uneasy Rider', director Hermann Vaske, who was well acquainted with Hopper, investigates the source of his unruly character through his work and prominent colleagues, including Wim Wenders. Dennis Hopper stands for freedom and rebellion. He is the traditional outsider. His trademark: Born to be wild. He was fired from Warner Brothers when he was 21 because he was unable to work with him. He upholds that reputation for a long time. His love for all kinds of drugs is legendary: he regularly appears on set drugged or drunk, if he does show up at all. After his 50th birthday, he renounces alcohol and gets a second chance in Hollywood, which he grabs with both hands.
