Delta, Oil's Dirty Business plot
In the Niger Delta, a gold mine for the oil industry, a battle of words, money and weapons rages between local residents, politicians and Shell. On the delta of the Niger River in Nigeria, bomb attacks, kidnappings and murder are the order of the day. 'Delta, Oil's Dirty Business' gives a picture of the development and abuses, the good intentions and the brutal misconduct of various parties. Petroleum leaks into the river, destroying flora and fauna, poisoning the food chain and threatening the 27 million inhabitants of the area: Ijaw, Ogoni, Itsekiri. The camera follows the militias of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). We also see confrontations with local politicians, people who benefit from Shell's community programs, journalists, the most informed and the least privileged local residents.
