De Wording plot

Five Dutch artists; Armando, Carel Visser, Ida Gerhardt, Hans van Maanen and Reinbert de Leeuw are closely followed in the production of a piece of work. The artists are portrayed while they are working, sometimes speaking or being silent, and sometimes the images are provided with fragments from interviews that were recorded at other times. Reflections on the intended or possible content of the works are alternated with reflections on the current working method or on a more common approach. Design issues are considered and information is provided and comments are made on the (preferred) working conditions. The individual pieces of work take shape in the course of the film, until finally completed works are presented.
