De Prik en het Meisje plot

The national vaccination program against the HPV virus was a failure in 2009. Numerous parents and/or girls of 12 years old refused the vaccination, there was a huge social (internet) discussion about the need to prevent cervical cancer at a later age versus all possible dangers and consequences of vaccination. In 'De Prik en hetmeisje', director Maartje Nevejan, herself the mother of a 12-year-old daughter, struggles with the choice between whether or not to get vaccinated and who do you trust to make this choice. What begins as an investigation into facts and figures quickly develops into a more emotional level, in which she tries to come to terms with life and death and everything in between.
