De Keuken van Johannes plot

Portrait of culinary journalist Johannes van Dam. The film shows a different Van Dam than the man who is famous for his unparalleled knowledge of gastronomy (collected in the reference book De Dikke Van Dam), and infamous and feared for his weekly restaurant reviews in the daily newspaper Het Parool. The camera follows him during his shopping, his daily café visit, his public appearances, but also at home in his tiny apartment in the center of Amsterdam, crammed with tens of thousands of cookbooks. There we see Van Dam at work, accompanied by his assistant and his beloved cat.
