De 13e Man plot

Portrait of three referees in amateur football and the passion they cherish for their hobby. We hear what they say to the players and get an impression of the work that normally goes out of the picture. The men do their job with heart and soul, remain polite and try to find a balance between order and chaos, but their efforts don't always get the appreciation they hope for. In candid interviews they talk about their experiences on the field. The contrast between the security of their home situation and the disrespectful situation on the field is typical of the split in which these men increasingly find themselves: whistling out of love for the game, but at the risk of becoming victims of threats and violence.
