Daughters of Malakeh plot

"Three generations of women, wedged between two worlds, struggle to give shape to their lives in present-day Iran."

More than 25 years ago, the Iranian Sharog Heshmat Manesh emigrated to the Netherlands. Now he returns to his parental home, because his favorite sister Maryam announced at the age of 45 that he had found a suitable husband. Maryam is a very independent woman, with a job and an apartment, and has always made the decisions for the family. Her brother has come over to approve the groom and to think about the prenuptial agreement. Maryam would like to get married but can't live with the idea that she makes herself subservient to her husband.
