Das Deutsche Volk plot
Nine young people were killed in the racist attack in Hanau on February 19, 2020. For four years, director Marcin Wierzchowski documented the impact of this crime on those affected and the city of Hanau. The film reveals the pain of the relatives and their anger at the way the authorities dealt with the incident. They demand recognition and take a stand against structural racism, which is expressed not only in the crime itself but also in the response of state institutions. While politicians search for answers, the families themselves take on the task of clarifying and reconstructing the events of that night.
