Dangerous Acts Starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus plot

Provocative theater involves risks: emotional, financial and artistic. For the Belarusian Free Theater there are additional risks of censorship, imprisonment and worse. In this film, director Madeleine Sackler takes a behind-the-scenes look at the company of brave members of the drama troupe as they defy Europe's last remaining dictatorship. In Belarus, the authorities are banning theatrical performances on topics such as sexual minorities, alcoholism, suicide and politics. The Free Theater responds by injecting these taboos into performances secretly staged in that country.
