Cuba, el Valor de una Utopía plot
That 2006 was steeped in the past certainly applies to Cuba, where Fidel Castro had been in power since 1959. This film reflects that situation: for two-thirds of the film, eyewitnesses, including Castro himself, look back on the period of the resistance and the overthrow of the Batista dictatorship. In the tradition of oral tradition, various Cubans report oppression, violence, arrests, kidnappings, shootings, escapes, the guerrilla struggle from the mountains and the ensuing triumphant entry into Havana. For the last 45 minutes, the Cubans of the revolutionary generation muse on the state of the island, forty-seven years after that heroic upheaval.
