Corumbiara: They Shoot Indians, Don't They? plot

"They shoot indians, don't they?"

A personal account of twenty years of video activism in Corumbiara, a municipality in western Brazil. In order to legally combat the degradation of the habitats of uncontacted Indian tribes, their existence must be proven through images. Filmmaker Vincent Carrelli first becomes involved in 1986 in a search for the remains of an Indian village that has been wiped off the map by a landowner. However, the objects they find do not prove conclusive for a case. In the years that followed, Carrelli returned to this area several times, convinced that it was inhabited and determined to capture it with the camera. Documenting the heartwarming contact that develops between the researchers and a family of Canoé Indians, the film features unique footage of one of the last survivors of an unknown tribe.
