Contractpensions - Djangan Loepah! plot
About 300,000 Indo-Dutch people were repatriated to the Netherlands in the 1950s. Due to the housing shortage, they were temporarily housed in so-called contract pensions, often located in tourist areas that - certainly in the tight post-war period - had a surplus of hotels. For some - mostly elderly returnees and people with large families dependent on benefits - the stay could be very long. Director Hetty Naaijkens-Retel Helmich tries to unravel this piece of history by means of interviews with various stakeholders. We see people from all walks of life in the Indian community. People who at the time had to sit in the pension with young children like the young children of that time.
