Charlotte Salomon, la Jeune Fille et la Vie plot

Based on her extensive artwork Leven? or Theater? and historical images, this documentary shows the life of the German-Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon (Berlin 1917 - Auschwitz 1943). Charlotte grew up in Berlin and fled to her grandparents in the south of France in 1939 when the persecution of Jews intensified. Between 1940 and 1942 she created a unique avant-garde work there: a mix of gouaches, texts and music with which she told her life story, from her time as a young girl in Berlin to the rise of Nazism and her escape to the south of France.
