Burkinabè Rising: The Art of Resistance in Burkina Faso plot
Burkina Faso, a small and completely landlocked country in West Africa, has a very vibrant community of artists, musicians and committed citizens. They show how political change can be achieved when people come together. Through music, film, ecology, visual arts and architecture they continue the revolutionary thinking of Thomas Sankara. After assuming the presidency in 1983, Sankara was assassinated in 1987 in a coup led by Blaise Compaoré. Compaoré then ruled the country as a true autocrat for 27 years. In October 2014, a massive popular uprising led to his removal.
