Brasch - Das Wünschen und das Fürchten plot

Christoph Rüter's documentary is about Thomas Brasch himself: he was a philosopher, poet and filmmaker whose life story is truly unique. Brasch was born in Britain in 1945 as the son of two exiled Jews. The family then moved to the later GDR, where his father was assigned the post of Minister of Culture. But his son has completely different ambitions. In 1968 Thomas put up protest posters everywhere, calling for an end to the violence during the Prague Spring. As a result, his father was questioned about his son's behavior and he was imprisoned for 27 months. After that Brasch became a writer, but his writings were banned in the GDR. However, when he smuggles one of his manuscripts into West Germany, he is deported.
