Bouw Museum Boymans plot

When the construction of the current Boijmans Van Beuningen building at the Museum Park started, George L. Theijssen (1890 - 1948, then active as Chief Technical Officer at Rotterdam Public Works) was present with his camera to record the process. In six different episodes, shot between 1932 and 1935, different aspects of construction are discussed: from the draftsmen working on the design to the assembly of the spire and the payment of salaries to construction workers. Slowly, Boijmans as it is known today comes to life.
