Bombay Beach plot
Nowhere is the failure of the American Dream more palpable than on the desolate expanse of the Salton Sea in California. Once a mundane vacation spot in the middle of the Colorado desert, this pool of dead fish is now home to society's outcasts. Filmmaker Alma Har'el presents her own portrait of three residents: a bipolar teenager with a vivid imagination, a black football player who fled the street violence of Los Angeles and a retired oil worker who lives on whiskey, cigarettes and joie de vivre.
