Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet plot
The Tibetan word for woman literally means lower rebirth. In Nangchen, a remote region in eastern Tibet, the Tsoknyi Nangchen nuns defy this alleged predestination. A group of three thousand women devote themselves here to the ancient practices of Tibetan Buddhism. This documentary explains how the Tibetan monk system works and examines the changing role of women within that system. We see the life of the Nangchen nuns through the eyes of a group of western women who were allowed to visit the nuns. En route to their destination, they are informed by Tsoknyi Rinpoche III about the eventful history of these unique women, who are a source of inspiration for many with their wisdom and cheerful attitude.
