Bile plot

An excess of bile could lead to both physical ailments (gallstones) and mental health problems (melancholy), according to ancient Greek medicine. Ira A. Goryainova, the director of this essay on the human body, health, illness and death, knows this from her own experience. As a common thread she uses the search for the causes of her health problems and the history of her mother who died of cancer.
