Beyond Words plot

In the short, black-and-white documentary Beyond Words, the viewer is taken to a world where language makes way for improvised sound and people reach each other without the mediation of words. The film follows the singers of the Genetic Choir Ensemble, who visit nursing homes and seek interaction with the dementia residents. By listening and improvising with sound, rhythm, touch and melody, the singers try to make contact with the elderly. How can contact without language still be meaningful?
