Belinda plot
Belinda grows up in extremely precarious circumstances. At nine years old, she is a challenging bundle of energy who doesn't make things easy for herself or others. She and her sister live in a house, but when their legal guardians decide to divorce them, the girls run away and wander through the woods. They just can't live without each other, they tell their caregiver whose presence is usually limited to phone calls. At the age of fifteen, Belinda informs him that she cannot imagine a future job in a shoe store. She would much rather have a job as a mechanic. Her sister now has a child, of which she is the godmother...
