The fact that the stone is now listed among Åland's unusual attrations makes this project by Bart Eysink Smeets quite brilliant already. This guy makes fun art, the most famous of which for me is the stack of cars on the NDSM quay in Amsterdam. I found the documentary very funny. The residents of Borger who had suddenly become attached to a stone that had been lying among dozens of other stones on a roundabout for years. Comparable to an old Nintendo that has been lying unused in the cupboard for years, but if someone takes it out of the cupboard and starts playing with it, suddenly everyone wants to play with it. The stone whisperer, the farewell including a brass band, high tables, bitterballen, and a speech by the mayor. Hilarious. Of course, you can also think it's all nonsense, but if you look at it that way, that's the case with all art. You either love it or you don't; I do love it.
