Baria et le Grand Mariage plot

Baria is a young girl, born and raised in Marseille, in the south of France. There she goes to school and has her friends with whom she goes shopping and dancing. Together with them she makes plans for the future, in which she hopes to marry the man of her dreams. But that's not how it goes. Baria's family comes from the Comoros, an archipelago off Mozambique, where there is a long tradition of arranged marriage. Many girls are promised to someone even before they are born. Baria also has a betrothed that her family has chosen for her. The film follows her in the last months before the wedding and during the many festive ceremonies in the village in the Comoros, where the wedding is concluded. Gradually, the net closes in on a girl who thought she was free, but finds herself caught between two cultures.
