Arica plot

"A toxic waste scandal."

In 1984, the Swedish mining company Boliden had toxic waste shipped to Chile for proper processing. In reality, some of the trash was dumped on the outskirts of the desert city of Arica. With serious consequences: in the years that followed, residents developed cancer and many children were born with birth defects.
