Nice movie.

Completely in the style of the 80s with a lot of well-known music from that decade.

The characters were very typical.. I can't remember that everyone looked like the idols of that time, but for the film that recognition was really nice.

The story had something of a musical 80s fairytale and was very nice to follow.

Beautifully acted by all the characters and even a part for none other than Billy Idol.

It remains a good film for those who love the eighties and for lovers of the romantic comedy genre.

3.5 stars

Relaxing, romantic comedy that all in all does not fall too far into the crazy, but leaves a feel-good impression and in which you only have sympathy for both main characters.

Contains several nice songs, not necessarily all from the 80s; the ballad "That's All" dates from the 1950s and was recorded by both Nat "King" Cole and Frank Sinatra.

Recently saw "50 First Dates" (2004) in which Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore also played nicely together.

Ah.

These kinds of films are actually typical of Coraci on a high level. I mentioned recently that I keep seeing his name suddenly on the movies I watch these days. It's happened to me about four times in the last two months. I still don't recognize many real style elements of him, he seems to be mainly doing what the main comedian wants to do.

In this case, it is again Sandler who is allowed to build that path for him. As an actor he does more serious work these days, but in the past it was a lot of these kinds of films. That doesn't necessarily make those films worse films, but they can only be enjoyed by a limited audience. I often get through these kinds of movies very quickly, but I don't laugh out loud.

Sandler fits the role well, which is why the better moments also come from his side. Barrymore, however, I found a bit disappointing. This is probably because the eccentricity of her character can hardly compete with the other characters, so that she is mostly lost. In any case, somewhat noisier comedy films can do little with more subtle elements, and The Wedding Singer is no different in that regard.

It looks easy, but the film really lacks the finishers. It doesn't really come off completely anywhere, and when the film finally starts to flow really well, it's almost over. It is of course sufficient, just like with several Coraci films, but it is not exactly memorable. Just good pastime for a rainy Sunday afternoon.
