Angelique & Titia plot

Angelique is a 22 year old girl with Down syndrome. She lives with her mother, her siblings have left home. The bond between mother Titia and Angelique is very strong. "Angelique is my guardian angel," her mother says. But Titia is homesick for her native Suriname, she would prefer to spend her old age there. But for Angelique that is not an option, the care for mentally handicapped people in Suriname is not as good as in the Netherlands. Angelique knows the solution: she does want to live independently under supervision. That means mother and daughter have to let go of each other.
