Amnesty! When They Are All Free plot

In May 2011, Amnesty International will celebrate its 50th anniversary. In this in-depth documentary, staff members, released prisoners, former presidents and celebrities explain how Amnesty has changed the world over the past fifty years, as well as how the world has changed Amnesty. Amnesty International has annoyed presidents and attacked dictators for half a century. When They Are All Free shows how a 'letter writing organisation' grew into one of the most influential NGOs in the world. In 2011, Amnesty International is a multinational movement that tries to survive in a world full of changes. The documentary outlines the challenges facing the organization. We follow the new Secretary General Salil Shetty who wants to prepare the organization for the uncertain future. And we see how Amnesty International's researchers on trips to Haiti and Egypt delve into the human rights violations there. But how important are human rights when you have to fight for your life?
