Als Ze Er Niet Is plot

What is a mother? That question is not so easy to answer. And certainly not for filmmaker Wieke Kapteijns. His mother died when he was six, she was only 37 years old. Kapteijns, his two sisters and his father lived on together - they had to. It is now 25 years later and Kapteijns notices that he has a mother-shaped void in his life that he would now like to fill with something other than the sadness that overwhelms him when he thinks about her. He records that process in this documentary.
